The Easiest Trifle You Will Ever Make!

I love making homemade desserts. I think after cakes and cupcakes, trifle would have to be my favourite. My Mum taught me how to make really easy trifle when I was younger and now I make it every year at Christmas time. I thought I would show you how to make it so you can enjoy it for yourself!

You will need:
  • Jelly. You can use any flavour that you want. It's completely up to you. I went for strawberry jelly as I know my kids like it!
  • Custard. Again, you can use any that you like. I went for low fat Ambrosia Devon Custard. It's my hubby's favourite!
  • Jaffa Cakes. Don't worry if you don't like Jaffa Cakes because you can substitute them for anything you like, fruit, other biscuits etc.
  • Dream Topping. I got two pouches because the top of my trifle bowl is quite wide so would have to cover the top.
There are no measurement because it all completely depends on the size of your trifle bowl. You will just have to eyeball the layers as best you can!

Step 1:

Follow the instructions on your jelly packet and add the amount of jelly you need to the bottom of your trifle bowl. Leave the jelly to set in the fridge. I left mine overnight but you can always just wait until it has set.

Step 2:

Once the jelly has set add a layer of Jaffa Cakes on the top. Make sure to cover all the jelly so that the trifle stays even.

Step 3:

Simple open up your custard, or prepare your custard if you have chosen to use powder or make from scratch. Pour the custard on top of the Jaffa Cakes to make the next layer of your trifle.

Step 4:

Prepare your Dream Topping in a separate bowl following the instructions on the packet. Once you have got the topping to the consistency you want, simply add it on top of the layer of custard to make the final layer of your trifle.

Optional Step:

Add a layer of chocolate on to the top for decoration. My kids are really into Magic Stars at the moment so I put a few on top for decoration!

Here is how it looks from the side. I can also report back that it went down very well with my family. They all loved it. I told you it was the easiest trifle you could ever make! Let me know if you try it out for yourself!
